Conservas Ulecia - Logroño

1. Human review2. Human reviewRafael Ulecia Urquiaga Esta Casa se funda en 1900 por Rafael Ulecia Urquiaga, agricultor y hortelano, con el nombre de "La Florida". La crea en la finca de este nombre, junto al Ebro, y sobre la base de productos de su huerta en la zona de la Rivera.
La conyuntura económica favorable, por la crisis de la filoxera en la región, y la fuerte demanda dio origen a la fábrica que se denominará "Conservas Ulecia".
Se levantó en la calle Marqués de Murrieta inaugurándose en 1912. Constaba de las máquinas más modernas para la estampación de tapas, la construcción del cuerpo de los botes, así como para cerrar y engomar automáticamente los mismos, construidas en los Talleres de Angel Cenzano de Logroño. La elaboración se realizaba en dos calderas de vapor, además de instalar una sección completa de bacinas al vapor y otra de autoclaves.
Para la construcción y explotación de esta fábrica se crea en Logroño, el 25 de junio de 1912, una "Sociedad en Comandita" con una inversión de 120.000 ptas. con la participación de los hermanos Luis y Donato Ulargui (80.000) y el propio Rafael Ulecia (40.000).
La fábrica se mantiene hasta finales del siglo XX en ambas familias, tras sucesivas disoluciones, reconstituciones y ampliaciones de capital. En los años cincuenta su inversión supera los doce millones de pesetas, que cuando se traslada al Polígono de Cascajos (1976) rondan los cincuenta.
