Tal como aparece en el anuncio superior, Juan Egmidio, crea un taller de función de todo tipo de máquinas y objetos de hierro, que progresivamente en la segunda mitad del XIX va consolidándose en la ciudad de Logroño. Esta es la base de las posteriores fundiciones del siglo XX.
Los orígenes de Fundiciones Marrodán -definidos de manera genérica- están en un "taller de recomposición de maquinaria" que los hermanos Marrodán, y en especial Juan Egmidio, -el más conocido de la saga familiar- tenían en la población riojabejeña de Arnedillo, a mediados del siglo XIX (1851), por el que abonaban una contribución anual destacada de más de 300 rs.

Parece que también en el año 1851 Juan Egmidio se trasladó a Logroño capital -calle Juan Lobo- para crear su propio almacen de ferretería, y que éste sería la base del posterior desarrollo de la industria metalúrgica, que inicia en la Ronda del Siete, y más tarde se amplía y alcanza fama con posterioridad. Lo cierto es que, en toda la documentación fiscal relacionada con la ciudad de Logroño, aparecen siempre asociados, aunque en distintos locales, el padre, Juan Egmidio, y el hijo, Salustiano, como dedicándose a la industria metalúrgica y del hierro en general, por las que abonan sus cuotas contributivas.
Con el cambio del siglo, cuando aún no ha terminado la primera década, en 1909, inscriben en el Registro Mercantil de la Provincia una sociedad con el nombre de "Hijos de Salustiano Marrodán" dedicada a la fundición, y cuyos accionistas fueron Francisco Marrodán y el marido de la hermana de éste, José Marco Rezola, que se la identificará más tarde con las auténticamente denominadas "Fundiciones Marrodán".

En el año 1929 se produce la escisión, y el espíritu de Juan Egmidio, se continúa en la ahora denominada "Marrodán y Rezola" y en nuestros días "Marzola".

La producción de maquinaria está directamente enfocada a la industria agroalimentaria, especialmente a las industrias del vino, del aceite y de la sidra. Tal como se anunciaba en los años cincuenta del siglo XX fabrica "prensas de cubillo y de huso con movimiento a mano o mecánico; presas hidráulicas y bombas; básculas, trituradoras, desgranadoras, bombas para la elevación y trasegado del mosto".
